A Little About Me – Beyond the Camera

Alright, here’s the low down on me beyond being a Birmingham wedding photographer

I’m a proud Brummie – and no, I don’t talk all Peaky Blinders, “yam alriiiiight” is not in my dialect! I’m in my 30s now (how did that happen?!), living in a never-ending DIY house project with Andrew and our two absolute idiots – sorry, cats – Chester and Gustave. The dickheads (Chester & Gustave) feature more on my Insta than I do most days.

I’ve got a massive soft spot for all things 80s – the music, the films, the fashion, the lot! Honestly, I can name most 80’s hits within the first 5 seconds of it playing… it’s a gift! Speaking of music, going to gigs with friends is one of my fave things in life. Whether it’s a sweaty little venue in Digbeth or a big day rave in an open field, you’ll find me with a massive grin on my face thinking I'm an excellent dancer… I’m a two stepping queen of the dance floor!

And let’s not forget my love of Eurovision! THE best night of the year, no contest. 2023 was just next level, wasn’t it? You can’t argue with me on this – it was perfection! Everything after we can forget thanks to world politics!

Oh, and gardening – yep, I’ve reached the stage of life where I love pottering about in my garden with a cup of coffee… then change that to a glass of wine, or two. Who knew the most exciting thing that happens in your 30s is waking up to a flower blooming?! Honestly though, by 9pm you’ll probably find me in bed, bingeing a Netflix series or fighting the cats for space in the bed!

My Photography Journey – How It All Started

Photography’s always been part of my life. As a kid of the 90s, cameras were the must have christmas gift! I remember my first sticker polaroid camera (don’t worry, my equipment is a lot more advanced now!) When I'd visit my grandparents, I'd sit there for hours flicking through my Nan and Grandad’s photo albums, making them tell me every single story behind the pictures. Their holidays, their mates, and – let’s be honest – mostly their cats (my nan was a cat breeder, the nice kind!)

When they passed away, those photos became my most cherished possessions. This is why I love what I do, photography isn’t just for the here and now, it’s keeping the memories alive for years to come.

I took my love for all things creative to college, where I dived headfirst into photography. Then it was off to Staffs Uni to study Media Arts – Photography, where I fell in love with photographing people. After graduating, I tried my hand at a few different things – woking with an online retailer photographing their products, working at a family portrait studio, even setting up my own home studio. But none of it felt quite right.

That was until a mate asked me to photograph their wedding. Let me tell you, that was it – the lightbulb moment! Weddings? They’re messy, fun, emotional, and full of absolute chaos. I was hooked. I started my little business not long after, and here I am, nice years later, still loving every second of it as a Birmingham wedding photographer.

What Makes Me Different – My Vibe

So, what’s my vibe, then? Well, my wedding photography style is a bit like me – relaxed, colourful, fun, and a bit alternative. I’m not into overly posed, formal shots or standing you in a field with a fog light blasting up your bum. I want to capture you two having the best day of your lives!

Nah, that’s not my thing. I want your photos to feel like you. Real moments, real laughs, and all the love and chaos that comes with your wedding day. I want to capture that moment your parents see you for the first and are overcome with what’s about to happen. I want to capture all the laughter in the sun with all your guests gushing over you two. I want to capture the party chaos of the dance floor. I WILL capture moments you’re going to love for years to come.

And OMG – confetti. Don’t get me started on confetti. Possible the most exciting moment of your wedding day! it’s a moment that’s extra, bold, colourful and all about fun. Nothing says celebration quite like chucking bits of rainbow paper in the air, right?

Couples who work with me as their Birmingham wedding photographer love the colourful, joyful energy in my work. My editing style is not light and airy, but it’s not dark and moody either. Think somewhere in between – bright, bold, and full of life!
