Chris & Sophie’s summer wedding day at Moxhull Hall

Bride and groom walking with their bridal party and groomsmen holding colourful smoke grenades at Moxhull Hall

Were we in Birmingham? Were we in Italy? The weather we had on Chris and Sophie’s wedding day was a dream! Moxhull Hall looked like an Italian dream location!

Moxhull hall, located in Sutton Coldfield, is a beautiful Manor House wedding venue tucked amongst the countryside. Yes, Birmingham does have some countryside!

The weather was perfect for Chris and Sophie to have their wedding ceremony in the hidden ceremony area in the gardens. The hidden space covered with different trees made Moxhull Hall look like a holiday destination!

I arrived at Moxhull Hall, the sun was shining and I could see wedding party darting around with the biggest smiles on their faces. I knew the wedding day was going to be awesome!

Both Sophie and Chris were relaxed and their friends were keeping things fun. Sophie and the girls were singing away to a pretty awesome wedding playlist. Chris and the boys were getting ready in the grooms hut which had a football table which made for some cool photos! Chris looked so dapper in his Moss Bros black velvet suit and Leopard print Dr. Martens .

Sophie looked absolutely stunning! Samantha Lawson Hair and Abdah Maryam MUA created the most beautiful hair and makeup looks for Sophie and her bridal party!

Sophie’s wedding dress by Enzoani had such beautiful lace detail, looking modern and elegant. This was the perfect dress for Sophie. It was also an amazing ethical purchase from Still White, a website selling second hand wedding dresses. It was in such amazing condition, you would never have guessed and Sophie looked radiant!

Then it was time for Chris and Sophie to say their I do’s. Moxhull Hall team rounded up all the guests to the ceremony garden space. As you entered the garden you’d hear the amazing Steel Pan Power, a fantastic steel band trio! They brought summer holiday vibes for people to chill out to as well as Sophie’s walking down the aisle.

Chris and Sophie had a short and sweet ceremony in the beautiful garden. With reading from Sophie’s dad and one of her dearest friends, it was such a perfect ceremony.

Sophie and Chris walked… or should I say, danced down the aisle as the steel band played and the sun shone down on them. The smiles from this pair said it all about how much love and joy they were feeling!

Then it came to one of my favourite parts of a wedding day… CONFETTI TIME!

Moxhull Hall is a no confetti unless it’s fresh petals, which Sophie and Chris sorted from their amazing florist Floral Jazz who also created a beautiful table piece and bouquets.

After giving the guests my instructions (I do enjoy putting on my banter bossy pants on for this) it was time for Chris and Sophie to rock the confetti.

Sophie and Chris had such personal table decor. The tables were named after holiday destinations that meant something to them, with postcards too, it looked so cute! I loved the little stick on tattoos of their faces! I am so hoping this takes off as these tattoos are hilarious when your guests are drunk and stick them to the faces!

How cool was their wedding cake by Quality Cake Company! Colourful abstract is something I love, so seeing it on their cake was a dream!

Whilst the sun was still VERY high in the sky, I found some beautiful shaded spots in the garden space at Moxhull Hall for some group photos and a couple of portraits.

I love capturing fun group photos, with the couple laughing and having the best time with their closest friends.

After the group photos I took the couple of for ten minutes to capture some fun portraits on the grounds. Chris and Sophie embraced this and we had such a giggle.

After Sophie and Chris and all their guests had their delicious meal from the chefs at Moxhull Hall, it was time for the speeches. Chris absolutely smashed his speech, especially adding in a little Play Your Cards Right with different food for Sophie to guess the calories of (FYI she’s a dietician, this isn’t a random game Chris thought would be cool in a groom’s speech haha). Then it was the turn of Sophie’s dad who brought tears to his daughter’s eyes. Sophie’s sister made a surprise speech which carried on the tears in the room. Finally the best men sharing the duty. One was an old friend talking of younger Chris whilst another friend taking about older, work hangovers Chris. I do love hearing all the silly stories your friends have about you!

After your meal, I love doing your couple portraits part two. This usually means you're feeling more relaxed and we can capture some of the gorgeous early evening golden light… or even golden hour.

Sophie and Chris had also planned for us to do some smoke grenade photos. Once we found the grenades, it was time to create this fun, colourful photo with Sophie, Chris and their friends. Chris and Sophie didn’t want the smoke grenade fun to end… so did another version just the two of them.

Now it was time to party the night away! Everyone headed over to the party marquee where Sophie and Chris’ evening band the Jack Rabbits were waiting to get the music started and fill the dancefloor. Sophie and Chris cut their gorgeous abstract cake and then did their first dance to I want to dance with somebody - by the legend that is Whitney Houston. Soon after the dance floor filled with their family and friends and stayed dancing right up until the band’s first set finished. I love it when your guests get into the party mood and Sophie and Chris’ band had the perfect selection of tunes to keep everyone there!

Sophie had a dress change into a gorgeous sequin party dress and again it was another beaut for her to dance the night away in, but not before tucking into some yummy Bao Buns!

It was such an honour to capture this beautiful day for Sophie and Chris.
