What It’s Really Like to Work with Me as Your Wedding Photographer in Birmingham
Hiya bab, so you’ve landed here, wondering what it’s like to have me taking photos at your wedding in good old Brum? or maybe even further afield?
First off, thanks for considering me! I totally get planning your wedding can be so stressful. You’ll never have so many decisions to make in a short amount of time (luckily). The last thing you need is a photographer who’s stiff as a board and more interested in bossing you about than capturing the magic. That’s not my vibe.
Working with me is more like having another mate at your wedding – one who happens to have two cameras strapped to her like a cowboy. I’m here to make sure you feel comfortable, have a laugh and actually enjoy yourself while we get those gorgeous photos you’ll appreciate forever. Think chilled-out, fun, and no awkward posing (promise).
Keep reading to find out how I do what I do, answer a few of your burning questions, and explain why I might just be the perfect fit for your big day. Right then, let’s crack on.

A Day in the Life of Your Birmingham Wedding Photographer
So, what’s a typical wedding day like for me? Well, grab a coffee and let me give you the lowdown. It all kicks off bright and early – sometimes earlier than you’d think.
If I’m meeting you for prep, I’ll rock up with my camera gear, big smile, and probably a stash of snacks (I don’t function without snacks). You’ll find me buzzing about capturing all those lovely little details – the dress, the flowers, you lot dancing in your PJ’s to the interesting wedding day playlist– and of course, those natural moments of you all getting ready.
When we’re all at your ceremony, I’m like a ninja. Seriously, you probably won’t even notice me. This is a good thing so you can concentrate on getting your vows out correctly! I’ll be there capturing those emotional moments – your family tearing up, your partner’s face when they see you walking down the aisle, and, yes, sometimes the moment your mate realises they forgot to turn their phone on silent. It’s all part of the story, right?
Once you’ve said the two words we’re all here for, I DO, it’s time for the fun… CONFETTI! (Pro tip - you can never have too much confetti, go big!) Once you’ve walked through the colourful cloud of fun, it’s time to chat with your guests. I always encourage that you have half an hour to grab a drink and celebrate the moment with your guests. Once your glass is empty and you’ve done a lap of hugs with your guests, we’Il get your family together for group photos. These are short and sweet, just like me!
Then I’ll whisk you both away for some relaxed couple portraits. Don’t worry, I won’t make you do anything stiff and not you, these are as simple as walking and having a moment to soak it all in. It’s more about having a bit of a giggle together while I capture you looking your best.
Honestly, it’s usually the only time you’ll get to yourselves all day, so it’s a nice little breather.
After that, I’ll be all over the reception – from the speeches to your grandad busting some questionable moves on the dance floor (look below, this grandad was an absolute legend!). As your wedding photographer in Birmingham, I’m there for the big moments, the little moments, and everything in between.
By the end of the day, I want you and your guests to feel as though I was another friend at the wedding, that made them feel comfortable so they could really be themselves on your wedding day.
FAQs: Answering Your Burning Questions
What if I’m really camera shy?
Don’t worry. Most people don’t love being in front of a camera, and that’s alright, there’s a reason I'm behind a camera! My job is to make you feel at ease, so I’ll crack a few jokes, chat about your favourite Netflix shows, or just remind you how flippin’ amazing you look.
Honestly, half the time, you won’t even realise I’m snapping away!
How do you handle unexpected moments?
Weddings are full of surprises – the ring bearer deciding he’d rather throw a tantrum than walk down the aisle, or the best man dropping his pint mid-toast. Weddings are perfectly in-perfect!
Some of the best photos come from those unscripted moments, and I’m always ready to capture the chaos (with a cheeky grin, of course).
Can you do posed family photos?
Absolutely, bab. These photos are important to have, but they should never be a big chunk of your wedding day. We’ll get those done nice and quick so you can get back to enjoying the day – most importantly, back to the bar!
What if it rains?
Ah, good old British weather – gotta love it. If it does rain, well then it rains. We can’t control the weather (still bury those sausages in the garden folks!) so we make the most of what we’ve got. I will keep my eye on the weather and any dry spells, we’ll run off to quickly capture some beautiful moments. If it’s raining, those cuddled under an umbrella photos look so natural and beautiful. I’m sure your wedding venue will also have some gorgeous spots for some photos too. The best advice I can give on this, don;t worry!
Do you bring backup gear?
Of course! I’m not about to risk your once-in-a-lifetime moments. As your wedding photographer in Birmingham, I’ve got spare cameras, lenses, batteries – you name it. If something goes wrong, I’ve got it covered, so you can just relax and enjoy your day.
